🎯 The Role

This is a high-impact leadership role within the Yahoo Mail group. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will join a team embarking on a mission to redefine the consumer email experience. You will be responsible for defining technical direction, leading major feature development, and overseeing a significant backend and frontend re-architecture that impacts hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

💼 What You'll Do

• Take ownership of major web application areas and solve high-stakes engineering problems.
• Define technical standards for responsive design and modern frontend architectures.
• Lead design discussions and implement testable, reliable code for global production systems.
• Optimize development workflows by integrating AI coding agents and agents into the daily cycle.
• Collaborate across time zones with designers, product managers, and geographically dispersed engineering squads.

✅ What You'll Need

• 10+ years of experience in high-scale web application development.
• Deep expertise in browser-side client technologies including AJAX and modern CSS architectures.
• Expert-level command of software design patterns and continuous integration/deployment.
• Proven ability to maintain stability and performance in large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong communication skills and a constructive approach to collaborative engineering.

• Previous experience developing email or communication-heavy applications.
